We are the city and the forest, we are Redbridge and Waltham Forest, we are middle and working class, a community we are proud to live in, one that has each other's backs and looks beyond party politics to stand up for what our people need.

Our group was born during the 2024 general election when Labour, despite years of dedicated campaigning, suddenly removed a popular local candidate and parachuted in someone with no connection to our area. It sent a clear message: our community isn’t fit to choose the politicians that represent them.

In the general election, our independent grassroots campaign won over a quarter of the vote in just four weeks. It showed that something better is possible. After 14 years of Tory chaos, this last year of a disappointing Labour government has only reinforced the need for a new kind of politics, one that truly represents our community and our values. That's why we're standing in this area in the local elections in May, representing our neighbourhood with candidates who live here.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

EQUALITY

We believe in a society where inequality is challenged and reduced. Everyone deserves a fair chance, regardless of their class, race, or gender. This means policies that uplift all members of our community and dismantle the barriers holding them back.

STRONG PUBLIC SERVICES

Adequately funded public services, including excellent healthcare, quality education, and reliable local infrastructure are the backbone of our communities. From Whipps Cross Hospital to Broadmead Road Bridge, we’re seeing critical infrastructure being allowed to wither and decay – we will not be silenced by party machinery that does not prioritise our public assets.

A UNITED COMMUNITY

We are unapologetically antiracist, and stand against antisemitism, Islamophobia, xenophobia and all other discrimination.

PEACE

We promote understanding, cooperation, and non-violent solutions within and beyond our communities. In the true tradition of the wartime generation, our care for people should extend beyond those we know. We are resolutely against the genocide that Israel is committing in Palestine, and believe our government is not doing enough to stop it.

OUR PLEDGES

1.

We are you – chosen by you, answering to you.

2.

No parachuted candidates. We are local people who understand local issues. Our loyalty is to Chingford & Woodford Green.

2.

Foster engagement by organizing Q&A sessions with stakeholders.

3.

No more empty promises. Plain talk. Relentless action.

4.

We’ll speak clearly, honestly, and fearlessly – and we won’t back down.

5.

Ambitious for our community – and for change beyond it.

6.

We won’t settle for crumbs from our council. We’ll push for real investment, real power, and real solutions – not just for our streets, but as part of a movement to fix broken politics everywhere.

HOW WE WORK

Local struggles, national change

The issues facing Chingford & Woodford Green — a crumbling Whipps Cross, broken bridges, decaying high streets — are symptoms of a broken economy and a corrupt political class. Food banks, underfunded schools, and unaffordable housing are the result of a system rigged against us. We fight locally while working to transform the system nationally.

Challenge power

We don’t serve party machines or corporate interests. We work for our community — every part of it. That means listening, uniting, and acting for everyone — not just those with the loudest voices or deepest pockets — and it means opposing those who want to divide us. We will work by listening to our community and collaborating with other like-minded individuals and groups to address the issues that hold us back.

The common good

The establishment fears organised, independent voices because we can’t be controlled. We won’t just "do good community work" to mop up the mess our rigged economic system is creating. We’ll challenge, expose, speak the truth, and weaken the structures that keep people powerless. We’ll keep up the pressure to get what this community needs.

Our community is special and we deserve to have representation that will put us first. We need to send this failing Labour government and the previous failed Conservative Party a message – that we will no longer just vote for them blindly, it's time for politics to change.

Over the past seven years, I've been proud to represent you – bringing your concerns and comments to the council and, in most cases, successfully resolving the issues you raised. Being an independent councillor since 2024 has enabled me to speak freely and vote according to my consciense and in the best interests of residents.
